Grade 2 English is designed to help learners grow in confidence as they continue their reading and writing journey. This course builds on the basic skills learned in Grade 1 and introduces learners to longer words, richer vocabulary, stronger sentence writing, and deeper reading comprehension.
In this course, learners will practise phonics, spelling patterns, sight words, nouns, verbs, adjectives, punctuation, sentence structure, reading fluency, and creative writing. They will also read short stories and passages, answer comprehension questions, identify story elements, and learn how to express their ideas clearly in writing.
The lessons are simple, engaging, and age-appropriate, with activities that help children understand what they read, improve their vocabulary, and write better sentences and short paragraphs. Learners will also develop listening, speaking, and thinking skills as they explore stories, poems, informational texts, and everyday language.
By the end of Grade 2 English, learners will be able to read with more fluency, understand stories better, use grammar correctly, spell common words, and write simple, clear paragraphs with confidence.
